I found a great (and easy!) new crochet pattern that I couldn’t wait to make! Chucksforchancho posted this one and I loved the colors immediately. I wasn’t so sure I wanted to make it as a baby blanket though. For one, I don’t have any kids yet, and I just think it would look great as a throw for a reading nook or a warm blanket to use while vegging out in front of the TV on cooler evenings.
I wasn’t able to find these exact colors in the types of yarn available at Jo Ann’s, so I ended up choosing Paton’s Classic Wool (worsted) in Lemongrass, Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice (acrylic) in Charcoal Grey and Bernat Waverly (acrylic) in Birch White. I didn’t have a P hook, so I had to grab one of those as well.
The pattern called for starting with a chain of about 34 inches, but I made mine a bit longer so I could make a throw. It ended up being about 48 inches (or 4 feet). So far, here’s my progress.
This is only about two full rows after the chain, but it works up very quickly and I can do it in the evenings to relax. At first I wasn’t sure about the colors, but the more rows I add, the more I like them together. I’ll post a picture of the finished throw soon!
Have you ever made a baby blanket or throw?
Yes! Check out this one that I made for a good friend whose baby will be born any day now!
