My new camera lens mug

13 Jun

It’s here! You may remember my post last month when I told you about this mug. Well, turns out I don’t really need the mug, but I just really, really wanted one! So, after some searching online and reading reviews, I ended up getting this one instead of the one on Uncovet’s site. I haven’t had a lot of luck buying through Uncovet (either their page won’t open when I am about to check out, or their coupon codes don’t work for me). So, I went with trusted Amazon, and I was super pleased when my mug arrived in the mail today!

camera lens mugI even love how you can twist the body of the mug like when you want to bring a lens into focus and it actually gets taller. It holds about 12 ounces (think, a tall coffee or latte). The box it came in even looked like the box you’d get with a real camera lens purchase.

camera lens mug 2I also preferred this one because it says “Canon” on top, which is the current brand of the camera I use. The other mug I was considering had a knock-off name. It just seemed like it wasn’t going to be “the one.” Think, that episode in Sex and the City when Samantha finds a guy that sells “discounted” designer bags and takes Carrie along with her. They find their way to his place and realize he’s selling them out of the trunk of his car. Carrie took one look at the cheap haul and changed her mind. That was me. The knock-off name and issues with the site just turned me off and I went for the “real” thing. Ok–it’s not a real lens, but it’s a real mug that looks like a lens!

My only complaint is that there’s no way to drink from it with the lid on, but to me, it’s not a big deal to open it to drink my coffee. You know what I’ll be using tomorrow on my coffee break!

Do you collect mugs? Do you have a personal favorite or one that actually looks like another object?
