Somewhere to lay your….coffee cup

18 Jun

I’ve been working on a few random crochet projects lately, and one thing I enjoy making, because it’s easy and practical, is a nice set of coasters. I love to use handmade crocheted coasters whenever I can. Last year I made a set of apple coasters.

apple coastersI also made a set of acorn coasters (I’ll have to add a photo of those!) and I use both sets in the fall.

Most recently I made these square coasters, but I really do prefer round ones for some reason. I definitely wanted to do something with three colors, so I came up with this one.

IMG_0572I really love how the gray, lemongrass and mustard yellow each stand out prominently. So, I think I may add a fourth color into the mix (not four colors on one coaster, but four colors to play with for the set) and make a set of four to six round coasters, switching out the colors among these three and a white yarn. What do you think?Β {I’ll be sure to upload a picture of the set when I finish, but suggestions are welcome in the meantime!}

I found some other beautiful colors on Etsy that I thought were also really fun. Check these out! {Psst…click on the image to go to their respective Etsy shops}

blue, gray, brown and yellowI really like these sets and the best part about them is they’re functional and one of a kind! Ok, maybe not one of a kind, but they’re handmade and that makes them awesome.

Which set do you like the most? Isn’t it interesting how many variations you can make of a round coaster?Β

    Like the idea of mixing up 4 colours across the coasters, look forward to seeing the end result.

      Thanks! I whipped up another one last night. I’ll post a few pictures of the set when I’m finished!

    These are all so cute! You’ve inspired me… I think they would make great gifts. It’s never too early to start on Christmas gifts, right? πŸ™‚

      Great idea! I think I may make a few sets as Christmas gifts as well. They’d make a nice housewarming or hostess gift, too! πŸ™‚
