A new mantel to decorate

25 Jun

We will have a new mantel in our lives soon! If you’ve been following my blog, you know that we’re moving soon. And we’re moving to even colder climates, so we knew we needed to make sure our new home would be warm!

Last week we traveled to our new town and viewed 7 possible new homes. We ended up choosing a three bedroom with an attached garage and a gas fireplace. Woohoo for warmth in the winter!

Here’s our new fireplace for you to see. {Please excuse the terrible lighting in the second one.}Gas fireplace

Here are some ideas I found on Pinterest that I loved. {As always, click on the images for the source.}

I also would prefer to do something with a tall mirror, perhaps in an unusual shape like the one below, to make the room look larger and then add some fun accessories. If I decided to go with a long mirror, I’m not sure how to mount it, because the fireplace is in a corner of the room. I don’t think I could attach it to the wall and it might sit too far back if I even tried. Any ideas?

I think changing things up on the mantel is a fun way to redecorate things without really redecorating a room entirely. Holidays are especially fun for this reason.

Which of the Pinterest mantels is your favorite? How do you change it up in your house? Do you have other fun ideas or photos to share for decorating a mantel in a fresh and creative way?
