Project 365: Week 17 Recap

03 Mar

This week’s recap comes with a few dubbed black and white shots for fun. I forgot how much I love shooting in B&W and it was a great week to do it. I found an old fashioned sweets shop in a local neighborhood here when I was out last weekend. I originally had plans to shoot photos at a church, but it turned out to be closed, so I walked up and down the icy block. I didn’t get very far because the ice was so thick, and as I was going back to my car, I saw the old fashioned shop next to an old fashioned diner. I got a few shots at the window of the diner (you’ll see one below) and slipped inside the little shop for some chocolate and to warm up. When I was paying for the chocolate to take home to my hubby {he’s the epitome of a chocoholic}, I saw that the shop had a few other treasures. You’ll see those here below, too. πŸ˜‰

Day 113 (February 21, 2014): Running shoes…my stress relief and fun. A friend of mine pointed out the reflection of the shoes on the floor. This was a “happy accident”. πŸ™‚

Day113_Running shoesDay 114:Β (February 22, 2014): Local diner window

Day114_DinerDay 115:Β (February 23, 2014): Old fashioned scale in the sweets shop

Day115_ScaleDay 116 (February 24, 2014): Old fashioned cash register in the sweets shop. My intention with this shot was to get the clerk in the background on the right, but he moved at the last moment. Sure, I could have easily cropped him out, but I kind of like the peek at someone working “behind” the cash register here.

Day116_Cash registerDayΒ 117 (February 25, 2014): Old fashioned cash register keys. I really wanted to push one of these keys just to feel and hear the movement. I refrained… πŸ˜‰

Day117_Cash register keysAnd here’s another of the same shot, but in black and white:

Day 118 (February 26, 2014): Succulent (shot with macro filter)

Day 119 (February 27, 2014): Tomatoes and stems

Day119_Tomato stemsAnd a second one of the same shot, but I removed the little peek of tomato from the lower left-hand corner after a friend suggested it. I like the result!

Day119_Tomato stems2Do you prefer color of black and white photography? Or does it depend on the image? What do you think of the dubbed photos here? Do you have a preference? Do you have any “happy accident” photos or photos that resulted from a frustrating situation turned positive?

B&W can be really beautiful – I’m a big fan. I love LOVE the first shots (shoes and all the B&W of the quaint shop – makes me want to go there)! Great job!
