This Season of Life: 25/52 “spring”

This Season of Life is a 52-week photography project through which my friend Mary and I will share photos that depict various moments from the current season in which we find ourselves. Having remained friends for the past 12 years, we have experienced a lot of seasons together (and some apart), as we now live in very different places. Having stayed in touch, we continue to share our life experiences and challenges with one another. This has been an incredible gift that continues to shape our friendship. We hope you will follow our Project 52 and enjoy the images that we share.

Spring has sprung… ok, well, in Southern California it often feels like spring. But for the rest of the country, it seems like summer is already knocking on the door. So, in the spirit of springtime, I changed up the flooring, furniture and plants on our balcony at home and it’s feeling like a super zen space where I’ll be spending a lot of time this spring. And summer. And fall. You get the picture. Check out the baby olives growing on my new olive tree! 🙂

Discovering one’s toes must be one of the most curious things that a little human can experience. Our little one has found hers and every time she swings her little legs upward to grab her toes, I can’t help but smile.

This Season of Life: 23/52 “mom”

This Season of Life is a 52-week photography project through which my friend Mary and I will share photos that depict various moments from the current season in which we find ourselves. Having remained friends for the past 12 years, we have experienced a lot of seasons together (and some apart), as we now live in very different places. Once again, it’s been some time since we lasted posted for our P52 project. It seems that life continues to take unexpected turns, and we realize that this is something we can always come back to when we’re ready.

This week’s image is one that means so very much to me. One of my dearest friends, Amy Lin of a3amylin recently gave me a truly meaningful and heartfelt gift, probably one of the most treasured gifts I have ever received in my life. Knowing that my mother recently passed away, she crafted this beautiful piece for me, while also creating one for her own mother, who she dearly loves, just as I love mine. I could not be more honored to wear one of her gorgeous pieces of craftsmanship, especially one that reminds me of the woman who has mean the most in my life. It accompanies my heart/xo pendant, also handcrafted by Amy, which I originally ordered because it symbolized the love I have for my mother. Now, I have even more love around my neck. While the heartache continues to be there, having friends who truly understand you and who are there for you, make it easier to bear. I love you, Mom, today + always.

This Season of Life: 22/52 “leaves”

This Season of Life is a 52-week photography project through which my friend Mary and I will share photos that depict various moments from the current season in which we find ourselves. If you know me, you know I love my house plants. Granted, most of them are succulents and plants that don’t require a lot of attention (Except my fiddle leaf fig! I’m kind of proud that I can keep one alive, given how finicky they are.). The way the sun catches on the sharp blades of this mother-in-law’s tongue that sits in our living room makes me pause almost every afternoon. The green and the yellow are so bold, it’s stunning. I’d say any reason to pause and enjoy nature’s beauty is well worth slowing down.

Whew! It’s been a minute (or many!). We’re finally back to posting here on our Project 52 after quite a hiatus. Life gets in the way, and we just have to go with the flow.

Here are a couple of images of beautiful, natural settings that caught my eye from a recent visit with family to the local arboretum and mission nearby. Both images remind me to always keep my eyes open to the natural beauty that surrounds us. Enjoy!

PS: Before you go, don’t forget to see my dear friend, Mary’s photo. Just from the title, you can guess we live in very different winter climates! 😉 xoxo

This Season of Life: 20/52 “foggy San Francisco”

This Season of Life is a 52-week photography project through which my friend Mary and I will share photos that depict various moments from the current season in which we find ourselves. This past week I was in San Francisco for a work conference, but I had some time to sneak away with my camera for an hour or two. These foggy photos are from the well known Pier 39, and while the colors aren’t as vibrant at that time of morning as I would have liked, it was nice to explore the area with very few tourists and others walking around the pier.

We’ve been in preparation mode around here lately… preparing for our special little gift. She’s due to arrive in a little over a month and we’re putting the finishing touches on her room. For now, here are some images of some of my favorite little corners of her room so far.
